Michael Giangreco to present research to Israel's Minister of Education

UVM Professor Michael F. Giangreco, Department of Education, has been invited by the Israeli Ministry of Education to present some of his research on the inclusion of students with disabilities in general education classes to a national planning committee called, The Special Educational System Committee. This six-member committee, which is led by retired Israeli Supreme Court Justice Dalia Dorner, was established in September 2007 to examine the Israeli Ministry of Education's policies regarding special education needs of children with disabilities. The committee, known in Israel as the Dorner Committee, is charged with developing national recommendations to be submitted to the Minister of Education in June 2008.

The Dorner Committee requested Dr. Giangreco's involvement in their planning efforts because of their interest in his research on inclusive education, particularly special education service delivery and supports for students with disabilities in general education classrooms. He will be working with the committee in early March in Jerusalem. His presentations and work with the Dorner Committee will be open to the public.
